Mikayla Worm, whose Cree name Kākisīwet Kīsikō means Loud Spirit, is a member of Kawacatoose First Nation from Treaty 4 Territory in Saskatchewan. She is a graduate of the University of British Columbia. Mikayla is passionate about uplifting Indigenous communities through mentorship, sport, and cultural connection. She volunteers with the Indigenous Student Society, helping organize events and supporting the annual UBC Powwow. She also volunteers at UBC Hospital supporting patients and contributes to research focused on Indigenous brain health and Alzheimer’s disease.
