Shaylin Allison/Giizhigaatekwe is Anishinaabe and Korean from Garden River First Nation. She is crane clan (Chief Shingwauk descendant) coming from the Pine, Lesage, and Belleau families of GRFN. Shaylin has a Master’s degree in Art History from the University of Victoria, where her thesis focused on Indigenous women’s art making as a form of radical resistance and self-love. Currently, she works on the Indigenous team at Kids Help Phone, where her work is driven by her passion for mental health, wellness, community. Outside of work, Shaylin loves art, writing, and spending time on the land with her fiancée Kathryn and poodle Linus.
